It's estimated that three out of four clicks from internet searches go to the top five positions on Google. And with nine out of ten (91%) clicks from Google Search going to the results on the first page, the value of SEO is clear. There are millions of pages on the web that can match a potential keyword. Any site that hopes to rank high for a particular word or phrase are going to have to make sure their site's SEO gives them the best possible chance.

Each day, over 3.5 billion searches are done in Google.

People are looking for information, and ways to improve their lives, when you really think about it. This is a huge opportunity for small business owners to reach customers interested in their products or services. The thing is, most people will only click on the top few results that appear on a Search Results page.

Learning how to do these sorts of things used to be time-consuming. We might've combed through an instruction manual, tracked down an expert, or called up good ole mom and dad—or worse, customer service. Today, we can find out instantly. We simply grab the nearest device and search—and not just on Google. Searches related to "how to" on YouTube are growing 70% year over year,1 and more than 100M hours of how-to content have been watched in North America so far this year.2

So if a website isn’t listed in those top few searches, it is unlikely to receive visits from a search engine. SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of improving a website’s visibility in search engines. By performing SEO on a website, you increase the chances it will appear in a search, which will result in more visits to your site.
